Moa Freeeze

Moa Freeeze” is a show currently showing at the Grey Place, 37 Scanlan St, Grey Lynn. A number of artists, new and experienced, were asked to contribute a work depicting a life – changing moment or happening. All to very specific measurements with the idea of making a frieze.

Well, it was hardly surprising that nothing turns out as expected especially when it comes to the creative world.

At the opening we discovered the works were spread around the walls mostly in pairs.

I have painted what it means to lose someone who has been a life partner for more than sixty years. “The Absence” seemed to me to be an appropriate title.

Upon returning home I now realise that I know the twelve members of our artist group, “Moa Egg Collective” a whole lot better. An unforgettable event in itself in the best way possible.

The exhibition runs from 20 – 31 May 2025 Gallery hours: Tuesday-Saturday 10am – 3pm or by appointment.

“The Absence” – stretched canvas and acrylic paint. 594mm x 420mm
